How to create a "LIKE US ON FACEBOOK" like box

As I was creating my new blog for my It Works business on Blogger, I wanted to add a “Like us on Facebook” box. After doing some online research, I was able to find out how. I’m always excited about learning something new that will enhance my blog and create more traffic, and I want to share it with you!

For those of you looking to do the same, here are the steps:

Step 1: Log onto your Facebook account.

Step 2: In the html search bar, type (or copy and paste) http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/. This will bring you to a screen that says Facebook Developers. Like Box.

Step 3: In the box under Facebook Page URL, delete https://www.facebook.com/FacebookDevelopers and then copy and paste your website address from Facebook into the box.

Step 4: In the height and width box, I entered 250 into both boxes.

Step 5: I left the color scheme light, but you can switch to dark if you prefer.

Step 6: I unchecked the show stream box because I do not want to have that on my page.

Step 7: Click on the “GET CODE” box.

Step 8: Click on IFRAME. Highlight and copy the code in the box.

Step 9: Go back into Blogger and select layout. Select add a gadget.

Step 10: Select add a gadget. Select add HTML/Java Script.

Step 11: Enter and paste your code into the content box. You can add a title if you want to, I did not. Click on the save button.

Step 12: View your blog. If you are happy with the position of your new box, select save arrangement and you are good to go!

How does DEBT-FREE sound? Part I

What does being debt-free mean to you? Does it mean financial freedom; The ability to spend more time with your children and/or spouse; Follow a lifelong passion; Use time in the day the way you want; Travel for fun/leisure; Help a family member or friend; Go on a missions trip; No more calls or letters from bill collectors; No more cash advance loans with outrageously high percentage rates; No more credit card debt?

I encourage you to take some time right now to write down what being DEBT-FREE means to you.

I look at being debt-free as something God has called us to be. When we are in debt, our focus is taken off of God and placed on our financial situation (Money). Do you find yourself constantly focusing on your lack of money? Are you constantly worrying about money? What takes up the majority of your thoughts in a day?

Take a look at the following Bible verses:

1 Timothy 5:8, "But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."

Proverbs 22:7, "The rich rules over the poor and the borrower is the slave of the lender."

Romans 13:8, "Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law."

Proverbs 21:5, "The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty."

Proverbs 6:6–8, "Go to the ant, O sluggard, observe her ways and be wise, which, having no chief, officer or ruler, prepares her food in the summer and gathers her provision in the harvest."

Proverbs 24:27, "Prepare your outside work, make it fit for yourself in the field; and afterward build your house."

Psalm 20:4, "May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed."

One thing I’ve found is debt-free doesn’t come easy, at least not for most people. Sure, there are those that win the lottery or inherit large sums of money, but for the majority of us, we have to work at becoming debt-free. But once we get there, the possibilities are endless! The freedom we will have from the bondage of debt will be great! I have been on the receiving end of being helped out financially, but now I have a goal of wanting to be able to give that back to others. Not only do I want to be debt-free, but I want you to be debt-free too!

Debt-free = Freedom. The enemy wants to keep us in bondage to debt and steal our peace. Buy more, work more hours, work more jobs to have more, charge more...MORE, MORE, MORE!…

But God wants us to have FREEDOM. Freedom in every area of our lives including in our finances!

There are many ways to work at becoming debt-free. Yes, becoming debt free is going to take sacrifice and effort, but if you really want it bad enough, you will do whatever it takes to get there.

Wouldn’t it be great to wake up each day and say, “Today, I get to go to work!” not, “Today, I have to go to work!”? To live in such a way that you can work doing what you love? To have the freedom to give back, volunteer, or help in an area you're passionate about?

Since this post is getting long, I will put together a continuation of this post sharing some of the ways I've been working on paying off my own debt and learning how to live on less.

Procrastination

5 Simple Steps to Start Overcoming Procrastination

I am writing this blog post for me and anyone else who is a known procrastinator! As I was doing my Bible reading this morning I came across a side note written by Joyce Meyer that really spoke to me:

“Procrastination is very deceptive and Proverbs 3:27-28 instructs us not to do it. Often, we do not see putting things off as disobedience because we intend to obey God; it is just that we are going to do it when – when we have more money, more time, the kids go off to school, etc.? Remember, the best intentions do not produce results. Ask God to help you take action in a timely manner in every situation. “

Procrastination has been one of my battles and I believe procrastination also stems from my battle with fear. How many things have your put off because of the fear of failure, fear of saying the wrong thing, fear of backlash from others, fear of hurting someone’s feelings, fear of (fill in the blank)?…

I know that fear is from the enemy. God instructs us to have faith; the faith of a mustard seed. Matthew 17:20 Jesus said (NIV), “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Faith = Trust. Trusting in what you cannot see and believing God is still working on our behalf even in the midst of our trials. For me, procrastination and fear go hand-in-hand.

It’s time to take action!

Here are five positive reinforcing statements to write down and speak into life from the book Commanding Your Mornings by Cindy Trimm (she has pages of positive declarations in her book):

  • “I take authority over my day in the name of Jesus. Every element of my day shall cooperate with purpose and destiny.
  • I do not procrastinate. I act now, without hesitation, anxiety, or fear.
  • You are teaching me to improve my productivity – to work smarter and more efficiently.
  • There is no slackness in my hand. Where I stand, God gives me the land.
  • I will not backslide or look back into old ways, old methodologies, or old strategies unless directed by You to do so.”

I would love to hear how you are or have overcome procrastination in your life! Procrastination is one of life’s purpose stealer's. In order to fulfill our life’s purpose, we have to overcome procrastination and step out in faith to overcome our fears. This is what I am doing (in baby steps); because I want to live fully the life God intended and help others overcome similar obstacles in their lives too!

5 Simple Steps to Start Overcoming Procrastination:
  1. Each morning, write or type out a list of goals you plan to accomplish that day. Make your list realistic. Start with one goal each day and increase to two and so on and so on only after you are able to accomplish your first goal. I believe accomplishing one goal is better than writing a list of ten goals and accomplishing none of them because you are now overwhelmed by your list.
  2. Focus on what you need to do to accomplish that one goal.  Make a list of what you will need to do to accomplish that one goal.
  3. Now stick to your plan! Avoid unnecessary distractions like surfing the internet or spending too much time on Facebook.
  4. Exercise: Believe it or not, you will have more energy to accomplish more that day. Start with 10 minutes a day and increase to 20-30 minutes a day. It will “wake up” your brain and your body, helping you think clearer and feel more motivated to accomplish a task. I recently read an article that stated some of the most successful people make time to exercise in the morning.
  5. Read your positive declaration statements every morning when you wake up. You are what you speak!
