Happy Easter! Today is a day to celebrate LIFE!
Because of the ultimate, selfless sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ, we can have everlasting life…When evil thought he had won, Jesus rose
to LIFE and overcame the grave...I don’t think we can ever truly comprehend the
fullness of the love he has for us, or for what he did for us by dying such a cruel death on
the cross...But He has given us the opportunity to experience the gift of
everlasting life…IF we’ll receive it, pick up our cross, and follow Him.
For those of you who are desiring to grow closer in your
relationship with God, and/or desiring to break strongholds in your life, it’s
time to put the “flesh” in its place and allow the “Spirit” to reign! I want to encourage those of you who have never tried fasting and prayer, to try this. Now is the time! This won't be easy, and your flesh will fight you, but remember, Jesus overcame death and He IS Alive! There are multitudes of people who have fasted and experienced a newfound relationship with God and others who have experienced breakthroughs in their lives that only fasting can bring. I know some of you may be saying, "Well, I just gave something up for Lent", but this is different. I would also encourage you to pray and seek God's guidance.
Look at this powerful
Bible verse:
Matthew 17:17-21
(Amplified), “And Jesus answered, “O you unbelieving (warped, wayward,
rebellious) and thoroughly perverse generation! How long am I to remain with
you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”
18 And Jesus rebuked
the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly.
19 Then the disciples came
to Jesus and asked privately, Why could we not drive it out?
20 He said to them, “Because
of the littleness of your faith (that is, your lack of firmly relying trust).
For truly I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you can
say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and
nothing will be impossible to you.
21 But this kind does not go out
except by prayer and fasting.”
There are many different types of fasts one can do. I encourage you to do further research on your own about the different types of fasts you can do for spiritual reasons, not for weight loss reasons. Here is some information on one type of fast called the Daniel Fast: http://danielfast.wordpress.com/. Be careful where you look
for information on this fast, as there is misinformation out there, as with
anything.
Lastly...Remember, this is between you and God, no one else.
