As I continue my journey into health, I came across
a movie called Forks Over Knives. I was aware of some of the topics discussed,
but others I found to be eye opening. What I liked about it was the inclusion
of statistical information and participants’ lab results before and after
incorporating a whole foods, plant-based diet. As a heads up, there are a few parts in the
movie that are very graphic in nature showing open heart surgery and leg vein
grafting, so if you are at all squeamish, you may need to look away. Also,
there was one brief scene in which they showed a woman’s breast while nursing
her baby, (for those of you trying to avoid nudity in movies).
There are more and more stories of people who have
reversed various health problems and have gotten off of certain medications, like high blood pressure pills and diabetic medications, just by
changing their diet, adding some exercise, and losing weight.
You may hear people, or may
be one of those people, who complain about the cost of fruits and vegetables, only to end up buying mostly prepackaged, processed food, because they are less
expensive. How many of you take time to look over the ingredients and what you are putting
into your bodies? In the long run, if we spent a little more money on whole foods, many would end up saving more on medical costs such as doctor appointments and medications.
It’s time to take your health matters into your own
hands. If you want to learn more and get started, I recommend watching this
movie. A couple of other movies I’ve watched that I would recommend are Super Size
Me and Food, Inc.
Here's to your HEALTH!
